Heinz Günter Mebusch
Heinz Günter Mebusch (* 1952 ; † 2001 ) was a German photographer and experimental artist .
Life
Mebusch studied photography and visual communication with Otto Steinert and Erich vom Endt . His exam topic was “Japan's Presence in Düsseldorf”.
Besides Germany he lived and worked in about 40 countries in Europe, Africa and America. Mebusch was fluent in English, Spanish, French and was familiar with Greek and Arabic languages. Mebusch was u. a. Lecturer at the Folkwang School in Essen, organized and curated art and photo projects, etc. a. the Beuys Festival 1991 in Düsseldorf.
Works
Mebusch created an extensive, structured work. In addition to all negatives , already published photographs and prepared original prints , his estate also includes extensive manuscripts on photography, art aesthetics and philosophy . The estate (The Mebusch Estate) is managed and processed by the non-profit Artforum Culture Foundation (ACF).

Artist portraits

The longest project and the most extensive series of works by Mebusch is dedicated to portraying outstanding artists of his time. Mebusch it was in the direct encounter with the artist about the individual artistic creativity in the human image are visible.
All portraits were created according to a strict formal concept in direct collaboration with the respective artist. With a total of around 200 portraits , which were created between 1979 and the end of the millennium, Mebusch created an outstanding photographic work and document of art history . A small number of working prints , some with additional signatures and / or overpainting by the artists shown, were made during their lifetime (working title: Journey to the planet ARS ). He meticulously prepared the actual work, a portfolio of all recordings, and determined the exact execution. Mebusch already specified a limited selection of portraits as large-format prints. The final publication according to the given concept, under the title: Face to Face - Planet of the Artists , will be realized by ArtForum Editions .

His estate includes other series of works, including a. Game of Dice , handwritten notes and an extensive archive of published and prepared original prints.
