Heinz Haesler

Heinz Häsler (born July 21, 1930 in Gsteigwiler ) is a Swiss dialect author and former professional officer .

Life

Heinz Häsler was born in 1930 as the son of a mountain farmer and bannister in Gsteigwiler, Canton of Bern. He graduated from the Hofwil teacher training college , graduated there in 1950 and then worked as a primary school teacher in Merligen . In 1952 he married Edith Irene Lenz, daughter of a civil engineering technician.

Häsler later began a career in the military. In 1961 he became an artillery instruction officer . In 1975 he attended the US Army Officers Advance Course at Fort Sill , Oklahoma. Two years later, he took over the management of the organization and training department. In 1981 he was promoted to division general and deputy chief of planning in the staff of the group for general staff services. In 1986 he became commander of Field Division 3 , from 1988 to 1989 he was commandant of Field Army Corps 2 and from 1990 to 1992 Chief of Staff of the Swiss Army .

After his retirement, Häsler also worked as a dialect author. His texts, mainly short stories, are written in the Gsteigwil dialect.
