Philippe Rebord

Philippe Rebord (born April 22, 1957 , legal domicile in Bovernier and Lausanne ) is a Swiss professional officer ( corps commander ). He was Chief of the Army from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019 .

biography

Philippe Rebord studied history , geography and French at the University of Lausanne and joined the infantry instruction corps in 1985 . From 1990 to 1995 he was an instruction officer at the anti-tank schools with a one-year break as a class teacher at an infantry officers' school (1991). In 1995 he became a class teacher at the central school , in 1996 he completed a year at the Collège interarmées de Défense in Paris , and in 1997 he was again a class teacher at an infantry officers' school. In 1998 he became chief of staff in the command of the general staff schools , in 2000 commander of the anti-tank recruiting schools in Chamblon and in 2001 commander of the infantry officer schools also in Chamblon. In 2002 he became the project manager of recruiting for Army XXI and in 2004 he was recruiting commander. On April 1, 2016, in addition to his previous duties, he became Deputy Chief of the Army. He has been Chief of the Army since January 1, 2017 .

His most important task is the implementation of the further development of the army (WEA) and, in cooperation with Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin, filling the relevant positions in the WEA.

On April 4, 2019, Rebord and Federal Councilor Viola Amherd announced his resignation as head of the army for health reasons at the end of 2019.
