Heinz Heckmann (born July 11, 1932 in Trier ) is a German music teacher , bassoonist , church musician and composer .

Heinz Heckmann received his first piano lessons at the age of eight. From 1942 to 1952 he sang as a choirboy in Trier cathedral choir and studied from 1950 to 1952 at the Episcopal School of Church Music in Trier church music . This was followed by studies in composition with Heinrich Konietzny , conducting with General Music Director Philipp Wüst , piano with Hans Schmitt , choral conducting with Herbert Schmolzi and theory with Dieter Loskant at the Saarbrücken University of Music , which he completed in 1956 with a degree in instrumental education with a major in piano. 1956-1959 he attended the master class for composition at the Musikhochschule Saarbrücken with Heinrich Konietzny and took part in 1956 and 1957 in the summer courses for composition conducted by Olivier Messiaen . He also studied bassoon, also with Konietzny, from 1957 to 1959.

Since 1956 Heckmann u. a. Freelance piano pedagogue, song accompanist, choir director and composer, from 1960 to 1965 also as bassoonist in the Trier Municipal Orchestra under GMD Rolf Reinhardt . From 1963–1995 he worked as a school musician at the Ludwig-Simon-Realschule in Trier and from 1988 to 1999 as a lecturer for piano playing, composition and ear training at the Episcopal Church Music School in Trier.

For Vera Ilieva a variety of vocal works she has premiered themselves or with their singing class was created.
