Heinz Kiehl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz Kiehl (born June 6, 1943 in Oggersheim ; † July 26, 2016 ) was a German wrestler .

Career

Heinz Kiehl's father was chairman of the heavy athletics club KSV Oggersheim near Ludwigshafen for many years . So it is not surprising that Filius Heinz also started wrestling at this club at a young age. He was very talented and won everything in the youth and junior division that could be won at national level. At the age of 20 he took part in world championships. His greatest success was winning the Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo in 1964 . In the years that followed, Heinz was unable to fully build on this success, but always delivered open and fair fights. With VfK Schifferstadt , to which he had meanwhile switched, he also won the German team championship in 1971 and was on the same team as his idol Wilfried Dietrich . He won the German championship title eleven times in both styles.

Heinz Kiehl, who was a trained machine fitter, trained to become a sports teacher and worked as such at the secondary school in Ludwigshafen-Edigheim for over 30 years.
