Heinz Wedler

Heinz Wedler (born May 9, 1927 in Tilsit ; † 2012 in Ruhla ) was General Director of the Microelectronics Combine in Erfurt in the GDR until the peaceful revolution in 1989 .

Life

Wedler joined the NSDAP on April 20, 1944 at the age of 16 . In the last phase of World War II he suffered a serious war wound in the fighting that followed.

He then completed an apprenticeship in precision mechanics . He then took up engineering studies from 1949 to 1952 in Jena . From 1953 to 1956 he was the main technologist at VEB Maßindustrie Werdau . During this time he became a member of the SED .

From 1956 to 1959 he was Technical Director at VEB Material Testing Machines Leipzig . From 1959 to 1962 he was head of the research and development department at VVB Mechanik Leipzig . During these years he also completed a degree at the Industrial Institute of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , which he graduated with a degree in economics. The doctorate to Dr. rer. oec. with the topic of analysis of the development, transfer and production processes for further qualification of the line, to achieve a high speed and a high yield: examined using the example of the microprocessor (CPU) U 880 D as dissertation A and B he obtained there together with Johann Pohl in 1981.

In 1963 he was appointed factory director of VEB Uhrenwerke Ruhla , and from 1967 he was general director of the watch combine. Since 1967 he was also a member of the district leadership of the SED in Erfurt . With the establishment of the Kombinate Mikroelektronik Erfurt in 1978, which included 24 state- owned companies (VEB), including the VEB for the watchmaking department in Ruhla and for the semiconductor plant in Frankfurt (Oder) , he became general director and held this position until the end of 1989 out.

In 1984 he was appointed honorary professor at the Technical University of Leipzig .
