Helmut Windisch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helmut Windisch (* 2. April 1925 in Schöneck / Vogtl. , † 1. May 2011 in Weimar ) was a German for the radio, television and various theaters of the GDR active author , director and artistic director .

Life

Helmut Windisch was born in Schöneck in the Vogtland region in 1925 . After graduating from high school in 1943, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . He had to give up the chemistry studies he started after the war for health reasons.

From 1946 to 1954 he was a textile worker and from 1952 to 1955 assistant director , then director on various stages. During this time he also wrote plays , television plays and cabaret texts , but had no success with his publication efforts. It was not until 1955 that a short story by him was printed in the weekly mail . More short stories and poetry followed. He found his profession in 1958, when the German television radio considered some exercise exposés to be useful and even produced one, whereupon he turned back to dramatic creation. In 1959 he took over the artistic direction of the Triebel / Vogtl village theater . , near his place of residence Oelsnitz / Vogtl. For this he wrote four pieces up to 1965, all of which met with a wide response due to their roots in socialist village everyday life and earned him three state merit awards in addition to workers' festival medals. In 1963, Windisch joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED).

In the mid-sixties, health problems again prevented the freelance worker from 1960 on from continuing his staging work . Even literary work was only possible sporadically. With the play Zeit der Störche , a book adaptation from 1967 , he achieved a brief popularity again at the end of the 1960s. In the mixed reviews, there was talk of a “terse” but “respectable” implementation of the template, and that “not all questions of a philosophical nature” had been dealt with thoroughly and the given food for thought was “something on paper”.

In 1977 Helmut Windisch moved to Weimar , where he died in 2011.
