Hendrik Fassmann (born January 25, 1949 in Saarbrücken ) is a German social scientist and rehabilitation scientist .

Life

Henrik Fassmann studied social sciences from 1971 to 1976 at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . In 1977 he obtained the academic degree of a diploma in social economics . He initially did his doctorate with the medical sociologist Karl Gustav Specht and then, after Specht's untimely death, continued his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. with the organizational sociologist Günter Büschges and the social politician Ulrich Pagenstecher. Fassmann has been involved in rehabilitation research since the late 1970s, most recently as deputy managing director of the Institute for Empirical Sociology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He also took on teaching positions at the University of Bamberg , the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences. Finally, it emerged through an extensive body of literature on rehabilitation research.

Scientific approach

Hendrik Fassmann learned his academic stamping primarily at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. His health and rehabilitation science work was shaped by his academic teachers, whose approaches he understood how to integrate.

From Gerhard Wurzbacher he took over the basic sociological idea of understanding people as social and personal beings . The challenges of a disability in particular affect people both in terms of social networking and in their lifelong socialization. Fassmann took up systemic thinking from Karl Gustav Specht and prepared it for rehabilitation research, as well as implementing the demand for an empirical foundation . In order to better understand the complexity of rehabilitation processes, modern sociology relies on systemic thinking with a view to communication , meaning and complexity reduction. The third influencing factor was Ulrich Pagenstecher's critical question . Pagenstecher represented critical rationalism in the tradition of Karl Popper . Fassmann made this approach fruitful for rehabilitation research by subjecting programs and projects to an ideology-critical review .

Focus in rehabilitation research

The scientific focus of rehabilitation for Hendrik Fassmann is in the field of occupational and social rehabilitation such as evaluation research , case management, care quality , social stations , rehabilitation of the mentally ill, occupational rehabilitation and the effectiveness of inpatient treatment.

Symposia

Fassmann has lectured at a large number of specialist conferences on evaluation and rehabilitation; so also at conferences for applied sociology , organized by the professional association of German sociologists in the Evangelical Academy Bad Boll and in the Federal Institute for Vocational Education in Bonn .

internationality

Fassmann studied the regional studies of Romance countries with the Romance scholar and sociologist Hanns-Albert Steger at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . Against this background, he completed study visits and study trips in Europe , Asia and Latin America . The intercultural encounters with the cultures and social structures were useful to support his hermeneutic knowledge for the understanding of rehabilitation processes.
