Henryk Tomasik (born January 4, 1946 in Łuków , Poland ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Radom in Poland.

Life

Henryk Marian Tomasik comes from a farming family and attended elementary school and high school in his hometown. After graduating from high school, he entered the Benedict XV seminary in Siedlce . He studied philosophy and theology and was on May 31, 1969 by Bishop Jan Mazur for priests ordained. After two years in pastoral care, he began studying philosophy a. a. with Cardinal Karol Wojtyla at the Catholic University of Lublin . In 1974 he became a lecturer at the seminary in Siedlce. Bishop Masur called him to the cathedral chapter of Siedlce in 1989 .

On November 21, 1992 Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Siedlce and at the same time titular bishop of Furnos Minor . He received his episcopal ordination on January 6, 1993 in Rome from the Pope himself. Co-consecrators were Cardinal Curia Giovanni Battista Re , substitute for the Vatican State Secretariat , and Cardinal Curia Justin Francis Rigali , Secretary of the Congregation for Bishops . On January 19, 1993 he was appointed vicar general of the diocese of Siedlce and was director of the Institute for Theology in Siedlce from 1993 to 1996. The preparations for the beatification of the Martyrs of Pratulin and the Pope's visit in 1999 were directed by him. He was also responsible for the Polish youth participating in the World Youth Days in Manila (1995) , Paris (1997) , Rome (2000) , Toronto (2002) , Cologne (2005) , Sydney (2008) and Madrid (2011) .

On October 16, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Radom. The solemn introduction to his new diocese took place on November 14, 2009 in the Marian Cathedral of Radom .

In the Polish Bishops' Conference he is a member of the Commission for Catholic Education, the Commission for Poles Abroad and a delegate for youth pastoral care.

The shield shows the white / silver Christ monogram on a red background, the "Chi-Rho" on both sides, the Greek letters Alpha and Omega also in white / silver. The color red stands for martyrdom ( martyrs of Pratulin ) the P, the cross and Christ and the letters A and O, also Christ the eternal Logos Revelation 1,8 .

Behind the shield is the bishop's cross, above it the green galero (bishop's hat ) with the six green tassels (fiocchi) hanging down.

His motto is Adveniat Regnum Tuum (Let your kingdom come).
