Heptacosanoic acid is a saturated, long-chain fatty acid with an odd number of carbon numbers and belongs to the group of alkanoic acids .
The monocarboxylic acid is assigned to the wax acids and, as a carboxylic acid ester, is a component of montan wax , peat wax and china wax . It occurs in small amounts in a few plant species e.g. B. in salvia and rhododendron species.
