Herbert Knippenberg

Herbert A. Knippenberg (* 1914 ; † September 25, 1970 in Bremen ) was a German actor , singer , theater director , radio play and voice actor .

Life

Herbert Knippenberg grew up in the Ruhr area and attended a painting academy after finishing school. Due to the resulting contacts to the theater, he received his first extra roles. Knippenberg lived for a while in Paris and played boulevard theater there. Before the Second World War he returned to Germany and accepted his first engagement in Münster. Further stages of his stage career were theaters in Detmold, Gera, Halle and Stettin as well as the Meininger Theater . After the end of the war, Knippenberg gave guest performances at the Komische Oper Berlin , and in later years he also played on theaters in Basel and Zurich. He also worked as a director.

Working in front of the camera has been documented since the mid-1950s. Among other things, Knippenberg was seen in the Edgar Wallace flick Die Gruft mit dem Rätselschloss , in Eugen York's crime film Nebelmörder or in the youth series Till, the boy next door , where he played in several episodes.

When he started filming, Knippenberg began to occasionally take on tasks as a radio play speaker. In the 1960s he was also used as a voice actor.
