Our Pauker (with the subtitle "Everyday stories of a Berlin family") is a 20-part entertainment series that was broadcast for the first time in September 1965 on the ZDF evening program .

The Schulz family consists of father Ulrich, the eponymous timpanist and hobby radio operator, his wife Ruth and the adult children Christian, a music student who earns his studies as a taxi driver, daughter Susanne and the 12-year-old baby boy Ricky, who of all people is his father Class teacher has. As the subtitle "Everyday Stories of a Berlin Family" suggests, the individual episodes are not exclusively about the subject of school, but rather deal primarily with events from everyday life. The residents of the house are always included in this, among them the Janitz couple, who run an inn downstairs in the house, and the pensioner Ziermann, with whom Ms. Puhlke comes to clean several times a week.

The house that the Schulzens move into in the first episode is located on the fictional Gartenpromenade 24 in Berlin's Tempelhof district .

Others

The students' actors included Hansi Jochmann, who had worked in front of the camera since 1960, and Hans Joachim Bohm, who played the title role in the youth series Till, the boy next door in 1967 . The actor and director Lutz Hochstraate worked as an assistant director for the first ten episodes.

The supporting roles could be filled with many prominent Berlin actors. Agnes Windeck, Walter Gross and Bruno Fritz appeared together in Günter Neumann's cabaret Die Insulaner from 1948 onwards .

Author Detlef Müller began his television career with this series and in later years wrote scripts for crime series such as Der Alte , Ein Fall für Zwei or the Tatort .

Each episode of this black and white production was almost 30 minutes long. The broadcast day was initially Tuesday, at the beginning of 1966 (from episode 9) the broadcast took place on Wednesdays, starting at 8 p.m. The series is available on DVD, but is also available on the Internet. The pub will be closed on Monday evening as the Janitzens go out. They allow Ruth to watch TV in the pub. Suddenly a tour group from Mainz is at the door. Ruth doesn't have the heart to send people away again. So the Schulzens have to run the business with the support of Mr. Ziermann.

Christian meets young Karla, who leaves a bunch of keys in his taxi. After an argument with his father, Christian leaves his parents' apartment and stays with Uncle Arno. In the meantime, Karla turns up at Schulzens looking for the key, because Christian gave her his address.

Ulrich has 25 years of service. His wife wants to surprise him with a lighted globe, but the financing causes problems. Norbert Lange is a new student in Ulrich's class. One day the criminal investigation department shows up at the school after they found Norbert's school bag in a junkyard. Ulrich visits his mother and finds that the boy does not suffer material hardship, but that he lacks parental love. When the Schulz family takes care of the boy, the problems become even greater.

The Schulz family has won almost 2,500 German marks in the lottery. Christian and Jacqueline get together. A conversation with Pedell Krause encourages Ulrich in his intention to accept the position, but then the students organize a spontaneous demonstration of sympathy for their teacher. Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether Ulrich will leave school or not.
