Hermann Wagner (actor)
Richard Hermann Wagner (born April 24, 1913 in Essen , † November 16, 1999 in Berlin-Tempelhof ) was a German actor and voice actor .
life and work
After finishing school at the Burggymnasium in Essen, he graduated from high school. This was followed by the Folkwang School in his hometown. Wagner then studied theater studies , journalism and psychology . Theater engagements followed.
After three appearances in relatively unknown films in the late 1930s, Wagner worked exclusively for television from 1954 after a very long break due to the war. Here he was committed to the type of the sometimes strict, sometimes understanding teacher or doctor. He had his greatest roles in the youth series Our Pauker and Till, the boy next door in the mid-1960s. In total, he came up with 15 film and television works.
His dubbing was more extensive. Hermann Wagner was often heard in films from 1959 to 1994, including for Charles Ruggles in Trouble in Paradise , Nigel Bruce in A Man with Fantasy , Romolo Valli in Surf , as Vicar in Murder in the Mirror and as a suspect in the cult crime thriller Der Schatten des thin man . He also spoke for Patrick Magee in Zulu . Wagner was also regularly heard in series episodes, for example in Matlock , Murder is Her Hobby , Spaceship Enterprise , Ducktales , Hart but Cordial or Perry Mason .
Hermann Wagner was already active as a speaker in radio plays from 1950 at RIAS and from 1957 at Sender Freies Berlin ; in the RIAS he also worked regularly in the popular series (and later also repeated on Deutschlandfunk Kultur ) series Es happened in Berlin , Pension Spreewitz and Back then it was with. From the mid-1970s onwards, he intensified his work in Berlin radio play studios with commercial radio plays, especially for the Kiosk label . In addition to appearances at Bibi Blocksberg , his work with Benjamin Blümchen will be remembered. For almost twenty years he spoke to the zoo director Tierlieb - a role that he also played in the cartoon series of the same name about the talking elephant.
Wagner retired from professional life in 1995 and died on November 16, 1999 at the age of 86.
