Kurt Mühlhardt (also under the pseudonym Kurt Hardt ; born September 11, 1903 in Berlin ; † June 20, 1980 in Eckernförde ) was a German opera singer , operetta tenor , refrain singer and actor .

life and work

Kurt Mühlhardt was born in Berlin. After completing relevant training, he worked there as an actor, cabaret artist and singer from the 1920s .

actor

After successful appearances in the short sound films Cabaret Program No.2 and Cabaret Program No.4 under the direction of Kurt Gerron in 1931, he was also engaged in feature films. B. 1932 in the Harry Piel film The Secret Agent (also A man falls from the sky ), where he plays a singer. After that he got other roles in feature films. He was also used as a speaker in cultural and industrial films.

After the Second World War, he continued to get roles in film and later on television at DEFA in the GDR . He was seen in two DEFA opera adaptations, both directed by Gottfried Kolditz , and also appeared in two episodes of the satirical short film series Das Stacheltier .

After the Wall was built, he moved to West Berlin in 1961. There he continued to work as an actor on radio and television. He remained connected to the feature film as an actor and as a speaker in the dubbing studio.

Singer

He was just as successful in Berlin in the 1920s as a singer in the operetta tenor, which brought him together with many well-known colleagues. At the Volksbühne he was a partner of Käthe Dorsch . He was also heard on the Berlin radio. From 1948 he was a member of the ensemble at the Komische Oper Berlin . There he appeared as Baron Weps in Carl Zeller's The Bird Trader , as prison director Frank in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss (son) and as Alcindoro in Puccini's La Bohème .

But he was best known as a refrain singer for various orchestras on records. He sang with the "Grammophon" for the orchestras Egon Kaiser and Hans Georg Schütz , with Tri-Ergon for the orchestras of Harry Jackson and Géza Komor and the "Famous Six", with Telefunken for the orchestras of Peter Kreuder and Adalbert Lutter . However, he found his main engagement with the record company "Kristall" in Berlin-Reinickendorf, where he was able to sing for several top German orchestras. There he worked with the band leaders Fritz Domina , Bernard Etté , Oscar Joost , George Nettelmann , Emil Roósz , Eli Samsonowitsch and Carl Woitschach .

Without being named on the label, he sang refrains on many cheap, department store and small records that used the “crystal” matrices.

Even after the war, Mühlhardt worked as a refrain singer, now for bands at the "Amiga", a brand of VEB Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin .
