Hermann Fühner

Hermann Georg Fühner (* 10. April 1871 in Pforzheim , † 11. January 1944 in Bonn ) was a German pharmacist , doctor and university professor with the research pharmacology and toxicology .

Life

Hermann Fühner was born on April 10, 1871 in Pforzheim as the son of the gold goods manufacturer Hermann Fühner senior and Armbruster, born Julie. After graduating from high school and training as a pharmacist, Fühner studied chemistry at the University of Geneva , pharmacy at the Humboldt University in Berlin and medicine at the University of Strasbourg from 1892 before becoming a Dr. phil. and in 1902 as Dr. med. PhD.

He was then appointed private lecturer in 1907 and associate professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in 1913 . As a result, Fühner held the chair of pharmacology at the University of Königsberg from 1915 , from 1921 to 1924 at the University of Leipzig and finally until his retirement in 1937 at the University of Bonn .

Hermann Fühner, a student of Oswald Schmiedeberg , Hans Horst Meyer and Walther Straub , dealt with a wide range of questions in pharmacology and especially toxicology. Fühner was significantly involved in the development of the materia medica into experimental pharmacology.

Hermann Fühner married Isa née Keipert in 1913. The couple had three daughters and one son. Hermann Fühner died on January 11, 1944, three months before he would have completed his 73rd year in Bonn.
