Hermann Hahn (born October 3, 1908 , † January 14, 1945 in Noville) was a German football player .

Player career

Hermann Hahn moved to Hertha BSC in 1929 after the Berliners had reached and lost the final of the German championship four times in a row between 1926 and 1929 . Hahn was able to convince straight away in the VBB-Oberliga and scored 19 goals in 15 appearances. With that, he scored one more goal than Hanne Sobek , but it also didn't come close to the 27 goals by Bruno Lehmann , who only needed twelve appearances. In addition to the strong offensive, the old lady also knew how to come up with the best defense and so she was deserved and superior in front of the BSV 92 Berlin-Brandenburg champion. As a result, the team trained by Heiner Schuldt moved into the final round of the German championship in 1930 . There, Beuthen 09 was defeated 3: 2 in the round of 16 , with Hahn already making it 2: 1 in the 6th minute of the game. His second goal was supposed to come at 8: 1 in the replay against SpVgg Sülz 07 , which was made necessary by a 1: 1 in the first attempt. Hahn also scored his goal in the semi-finals in a 6-3 win against 1. FC Nürnberg . In the final, Manne did not score a goal, but was still happy about the 5: 4 against Holstein Kiel .

In the 1930/31 season, the Herthaners no longer played as dominantly as in previous years and so only two play-offs for the relay win against Viktoria 89 (3: 2 and 2: 1) had to be played. Together with Hans Ruch , who had also scored 17 goals, Hahn was the top scorer of his team behind Willi Kirsei . In the championship finals of the VBB , which was achieved as a result, the competition for Tennis Borussia was given no chance and drove confidently to the finals for the German championship . In the 5: 2 round of 16 success against VfB 03 Bielefeld , Hahn met the meanwhile 1: 1 equalizer. After victories against SpVgg Fürth (3: 1) and Hamburger SV (3: 2 afterwards), the Herthaners were the first team to make it into the final for the sixth time in a row. In the Müngersdorfer Stadion , TSV 1860 Munich were narrowly defeated 3-2, celebrating their successful title defense.

In 1931/32 the left wing Hahn was not used. Only the following year he was back on the field and promptly scored 14 goals in 16 games. But again he couldn't get past the towering Kirsei. After the league victory in 1933, they also won the VBB championship and, after a year break, were back in the final round of the German championship . In the 1: 4 against SV Hindenburg Allenstein , the men from Gesundbrunnen had no chance.

For the 1933/34 season, Hertha then joined the newly founded Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg . Hahn had the worst season of his career to date there, so he missed defending his title as runner-up behind Viktoria and for him personally it was no longer so outstanding and he only scored nine goals.

But already in the next season things went better for Hertha, who became Gaumeister for the first time. Hahn, on the other hand, only scored four times. In the championship finals in 1935 , Hertha only just missed out on PSV Chemnitz , who beat Yorck Boyen Insterburg 8-1 on the last matchday of the group stage , while the capital city team lost 2-1 at Vorwärts-Lawn Sport Gleiwitz . Hahn's opening goal would have been enough to advance, so the Chemnitz team had to be allowed to go ahead.

After Kirsei was only used sporadically, Hahn finally rose to become the best goalscorer in 1935/36 with nine goals. But the championship didn't come off as they only finished third behind Berliner SV and SC Minerva 93 .

But as early as 1936/37, Hans left all local competition behind with ten goals and entered the final round of the German championship . There they only distanced Viktoria Stolp , whereas they couldn't keep up with Werder Bremen and especially with the later champions FC Schalke 04 . Hahn get five hits in his six missions.

The following two seasons did not go to the satisfaction of Hertha BSC and so Berliner SV had to be allowed to go first, followed by Blau-Weiß 90 in the following year . Hermann Hahn scored his goals anyway and was the second best goalscorer of his team with six goals.

With the beginning of the Second World War , the Gauligen were dissolved and Hertha had to compete in the Danzig Cup . Hahn, who scored five goals in nine games, clearly missed the championship title there as 6th.

Hertha had to wait until 1943/44 until the third Gaume Championship could finally be celebrated. Hahn also met as he had not for several years and rose to the second most accurate Herthaner with ten goals behind forced laborer Bram Appel . In the DM finals in 1944 Hahn played all four games (1 goal), but could not prevent the 2: 3 semi-final against the military club HSV Groß Born after advancing against LSV Danzig and Kiel .

Hahn fell in Noville on January 14, 1945 in the final phase of the Second World War. Behind Kirsei, Sobek and Helmut Faeder , Hermann Hahn is the fourth best point scorer in Hertha's club history.
