Hermann Lungwitz

Julius Hermann Lungwitz (* July 12, 1845 in Bärwalde ; † May 4, 1927 in Geyer ) was a German senior teacher and local researcher .

Lungwitz grew up in Erlau and attended secondary school in Chemnitz . After training at the teachers' seminar in Waldenburg , he started working as an assistant teacher in Hohenstein-Ernstthal and then went to French-speaking Switzerland and Naples as a teacher . After brief activities as a teacher at the grammar schools in Plauen and Chemnitz, he was appointed to the community school in the Erzgebirge mountain town of Geyer in 1882, where he spent the rest of his life. On site he was a co-founder of a community officials school.

In addition to his teaching activities, Lungwitz dealt with the history of the Ore Mountains. His specialty was research into pewter tools. He was a board member and later an honorary member of the Erzgebirgszweigverein Geyer, founded in 1902 .
