The Hermannsberg is located in the Upland , the northeast part of the Rothaargebirge, in the Diemelsee Nature Park . Its summit rises about 800 m south-south-east of Rattlar and 2.5 km (depending on the beeline ) north-north-west of Usseln , two districts of Willingen. To the east its landscape falls into the valley of the Diemel and to the west into that of the Wiedbach , a small Dommelbach tributary; District road 65 runs along the Wiedbach between Rattlar and Usseln .
The neighboring mountains and elevations of the Hermannsberg include Schetenkopf (approx. 650 m ) and Hegekopf (approx. 641 m ) in the north, Dommel ( 738 m ) in the north-northeast, Ellenberg ( 655.5 m ) in the northeast, Sähre ( 726 m ) in the south-east, Osterkopf ( 708.5 m ) in the south-south-east, Heimberg (approx. 690 m ) in the south, Schneeberg ( 726.3 m ) in the south-south-west, Lüerberg ( 713 m ) in the south-west and Höhekopf ( 621.7 m ) in the north-north-west .

The Hermannsberg belongs to the natural area main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Upland (333.9) to the natural area Inneres Upland (333.90).
Hermannstein
On its summit is the Hermannstein , built at Pentecost 1912 (and preserved to this day) , a large square fire altar with a sun wheel and a (not preserved) wooden rune gate. This altar complex was built as a place of celebration for the right-wing conservative Association of German People's Educators and the Germanic-German religious community . In addition to the publicist and chairman of the People's Education Association, Wilhelm Schwaner , Karl Engelhard , Ludwig Fahrenkrog , Gustav Simons , Philipp Stauff and Carl Weißleder were also present at the inauguration .
