Hermstedt is a district of the city and rural community Bad Sulza in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia .

location

Hermstedt is located on the plateau between Saale and Ilm about 4 kilometers south of Apolda . Various district roads connect the town with the neighboring districts of Kleinromstedt and Stobra and, via Schöten, with the town of Apolda.

history

Hermstedt is mentioned for the first time in a document dated to the year 874 by King Ludwig about the tithe of the Fulda monastery . Since the 13th century Hermstedt was owned by the Kapellendorf monastery , later the place belonged to the office of Kapellendorf , which belonged to Sachsen-Weimar from 1667 and from 1741 to Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach . From 1815 the place was part of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach , which subsequently incorporated it into the Dornburg office and in 1850 the Weimar II administrative district ( Apolda administrative district ). The Evangelical Lutheran church was built in 1641 on the remains of the previous church from the 14th century. The village was and is characterized by agriculture. The farmers also went the way of collectivization of agriculture in the GDR and now work mostly collectively under new ownership conditions and look after a pig farm in the village.
