history

At the beginning of the 9th century Gebstedt is in a directory of Archbishop Lull († 786) of Mainz for the monastery Hersfeld first documented conferred by outdoor goods as Gehunstete mentioned. In the 14th century a "Vogtei Gebstedt" is mentioned, to which the places Gebstedt, the Hof Schwabsdorf , Neustedt and Reisdorf (Oberdorf) belonged. The Vogtei Gebstedt was under the administration of the Ernestine Office Roßla , which came to Saxe-Weimar when the line Saxe-Altenburg died out in 1672 and belonged to Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach since 1741 . During the administrative reform of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach, Gebstedt and Schwabsdorf came to the administrative district of Weimar II in 1850 and legally to the Buttstädt Justice Office . The place has belonged to Thuringia since 1920.

On December 31, 2012, the Gebstedt community was incorporated into the city of Bad Sulza together with other communities. The Neustedt district and the Schwabsdorf homestead belonged to the Gebstedt community . Neustedt became an independent district of the rural community Bad Sulza , Schwabsdorf did not receive any official status.
