The Herzog-Heinrich-Brücke is a road bridge in the north of the English Garden in Munich.
The two-lane bridge was built as part of the construction of the Föhringer Ring . This connects the districts in the east of the Isar with the Frankfurter Ring and the A 9 . It was originally planned as part of the Outer Ring . The Leinthalerbrücke and the Föhringen railway bridge cross the Isar and the canal just a few meters to the north . To the east is the Nord Heizkraftwerk .
The bridge was named after Heinrich the Lion , the founder of Munich. When it was founded, he had the bridge at Oberföhring belonging to the Hochstift Freising burn down in order to direct traffic over a newly built bridge near Munich and to secure the customs duties (see history of Munich ).
