The Herztalbach is a 5 km long right tributary of the Inn from the Tyrolean low mountain range east of Innsbruck .

course

The brook rises at the northern foot of the Patscherkofel at about 1010  m on the valley shoulder of the Inntal, which is called the southeast low mountain range . The origin lies a good 1½ km east of the village center of Sistrans in a wetland (Perlich-Wiesen) .

The stream then runs roughly northwards through the Starkenbühel settlement . The next section through the Ebenwald is the heart valley . Then the stream reaches the village of Ampass .

From here it is also called Agenbach , and runs northeast through the Agenbach settlement and west past the Sonnenbichl . About 1 km below the Ampass, it flows into the Inn  from the right above Hall , directly at the Hall West junction of the Inntal Autobahn (A12) .

history

In a documented boundary description of the Ampass parish from around 1400, which is kept in the archive of Wilten Abbey , the sub-stream of the Herztalbach south of the town center is referred to as the “Pachfall” .

Hydrography and tributaries

The upper reaches of the actual Herztalbach can also be found in the historical map series as Retl Bach .

  • The stream has a tributary, also called the Herztalbach (HZB: 2-8-157-a). This comes from the Aldranser Alm  , runs over Wiesenhöfe and the Asten , where the small channel from the Dark Valley flows between this and the main course, and flows a little below the Herzsee at the Prockenhöfe from the right  . It is 5.1 km long. In old maps he can be found as Ettl Bach , his right parallel ditch as Schreyer Bach.World iconWorld icon
  • A small stream comes from below the Herzsee near Aldrans , near Larch  . It flows through the parish valley and flows into Ampass after less than 1 km from the left  . Hydrographically it is also listed as Herztalbach (HZB: 2-8-157-b).World iconWorld icon
  • Another side stream is the small Gröbentalbach , which comes in from the right below the Agenbach settlement.

Historically, there was also a transition through the Jägertal above the Prockenhöfe eastwards to the Zimmertalbach . Around 1800 there is also a pond between the Asten and the Wiesenhöfen (which is probably still reminiscent of the house name Seehütterhof ).

The estuary area is to be improved in terms of fish ecology as part of the “Our Inn” water protection plan (a cooperation between the state and WWF). In particular, with the construction of the Brenner Base Tunnel , which would start around here, further hydraulic engineering measures arise.

ways

The whole area is a walking and hiking area, as a recreational area of Innsbruck, with numerous marked paths. A well-known circular hiking trail leads through the heart valley.
