Hey Stoopid is Alice Cooper's 19th studio album and was released on July 2, 1991.
After the success of the Trash album , Alice Cooper wanted to continue seamlessly with Hey Stoopid . He pursued the involvement of guest musicians and was able to a. Win Ozzy Osbourne , Vinnie Moore , Steve Vai , Nikki Sixx , Mick Mars and Slash for the album. In addition to Vic Pepe and Jack Ponti, Desmond Child , Al Pitrelli , Ian Richardson and Zodiac Mindwarp were also involved in the lyrics .
Success and reception
Hey Stoopid was able to reach number 7 in the German charts and was the third top 10 position for an Alice Cooper album in Germany after Billion Dollar Babies from 1973. The album lasted a total of 12 weeks in Austria and also reached 7th place there. In Switzerland, the only top 10 ranking so far was achieved.
For Allmusic's Alex Henderson , the album is mostly good and far from bad, but he also describes it as not essential. Overall, the album is only suitable for devoted Cooper fans for him. Alex Straka from Powermetal.de was much more positive . For him, Hey Stoopid is an album that " excelled in terms of richness of melodies, dynamics, harmony and unearthly arrangements that had any place in melodic rock". He even sees the song Might as Well Be on Mars as “one of the most epic ballads in all of rock history”.
