Hilantagaan Island is an island in the Province of Cebu in the Philippines . It is located about 27 km off the northwest coast of the island of Cebu and 4 km east of the island of Bantayan , 10 km northeast is the island of Kinatarkan Island . South of the island is the Tanon Strait , a sea area in the south of the Visayas Sea . The island has an area of approximately 4.6 km² and is administered by the municipality of Santa Fe . In the 2007 census, exactly 3668 inhabitants were registered. The Barangay Hilantagaan is located on the island.
The island has an elliptical shape. The island , which is about 2.4 km long and 2.1 km wide, has numerous coral reefs and seagrass meadows , some of which are protected by a marine protected area. The topography of the island is very flat with no major elevations. The vegetation of the island consists of a dense tropical vegetation, in the interior of the island there are also smaller agriculturally used areas.
There is a ferry connection to the island from the port in Santa Fe, it takes about 30 minutes.
