Bantayan is a Filipino island in the Visayas Sea , in the Pacific .
location
The island is located northwest of the island of Cebu . Its length is approx. 16 kilometers (north-south), the width approx. 10 km, it covers 116.4 km². To the southwest and east lie Kinatarkan , Hilantagaan and other small islands. The Philippine main island Negros is in the southwest and Panay in the west. In 2000 there were over 120,000 inhabitants on the island. It belongs to the province of Cebu .
The island can be reached by ferry from the port in Barangay Hagnaya on Cebu or from Sagay City on Negros. The small airport Bantayan Airport ( ICAO code : RPSB) is located near the city of Santa Fe and is served by the airline Mid-Sea Express .
