Sumilon Island is an island in the Province of Cebu in the Philippines . It is located about 2.5 km off the southeast coast of the island of Cebu , in the waters of the Strait of Cebu . The island has an area of ​​around 24 hectares and is administered by the municipality of Oslob . The island is privately owned by the Sumilon Blue Water Resort.

The island has an oval shape. The island is about 550 meters long and 800 meters wide and has numerous coral reefs and seagrass beds in front of it, some of which are protected by the Sumilon Marine Reserve. It was initially initiated in 1974 and later expanded in the protective provisions and is a joint project of the hotel operators, Silliman University , Dumaguete City and the local government. The protected areas cover 39 hectares, which corresponds to 25% of the entire coral reefs on the island. Whale sharks are very common in the island's waters .

The topography of the island is very flat with no major elevations. There is a lighthouse and a historic watchtower on the island. The island has a dense vegetation, which consists mainly of tropical tree species. There is a ferry connection to the island from the port in Oslob, it takes about 60 to 90 minutes.
