Hilke Maunder

Hilke Maunder (born October 30, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German journalist , author and photographer . Her specialty is business and travel journalism with a special focus on France and Australia .

Life

Hilke Maunder studied English , New German Literature and Theater Studies at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . She then worked as a journalist for the Lübecker Nachrichten , Hamburger Abendblatt , BILD Hamburg , Süddeutsche Zeitung , Handelsblatt , Lonely Planet Traveler, National Geographic Germany , Freund , Die Welt und die Welt am Sonntag and Spiegel Online . She has worked as a foreign correspondent in Great Britain , Russia , China , Vietnam , the Baltic States and Australia . Maunder is a member of the German Association of Journalists , the Association of German Travel Journalists , the General Hamburg Press Club and the Club de Presse Languedoc-Roussillon.

Hilke Maunder became known as a travel writer and travel blogger, especially through her work on the subject of France. Her travel guides and illustrated books have been published by publishers such as Karl Baedeker Verlag , Marco Polo and DuMont Reiseverlag . In 2015 Maunder was represented as an expert at the annual meeting of the Provence tourism offices in Cannes. She appeared as an expert at the Tourism Council in Berlin in 2016. In 2019 Maunder was invited as a speaker at the annual meeting of the tourism offices in Gréoux-les-Bains. Maunder has had a branch in southern France since 2014 , where she also lives from time to time. Maunder has been running Mein Frankreich, a German-language travel blog on the subject of France, since 2010 .

Awards

In 2014 Hilke Maunder was awarded the Médaille du Tourisme, the Minister of Tourism of the French Republic .
