Hochrieß is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Purgstall an der Erlauf in the Scheibbs district in Lower Austria .

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 172 building areas with 49,627 m² and 39 gardens on 32,987 m² in the cadastral municipality of Hochrieß , in 1989/1990 there were 169 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 367 and in 2009/2010 there were 237 buildings on 358 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 740 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 111 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 727 hectares and 121 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 713 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 127 hectares. The average soil climate number of Hochrieß is 43.7 (as of 2010).

In Hochrieß there is also an animal park which houses 45 different animal species in around 23 hectares.
