Hof bei Straden is a former municipality with 847 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) in the south-eastern part of Styria . It lies in the judicial district of Feldbach or the district of Southeast Styria . Since 2015 it has been merged with the market town of Straden and the municipalities of Krusdorf and Stainz bei Straden as part of the structural reform of the municipality in Styria , the new municipality continues the name "Straden".

The municipality of Hof bei Straden was in the Radkersburg district until 2012 and in the newly created district of Südoststeiermark in the Austrian state of Styria until the end of 2014 .

The municipality comprised the following four localities (number of inhabitants in brackets, as of January 1, 2020):

The community consisted of the cadastral communities Hof, Neusetz, Oberkarla, Radochen and Unterkarla.

history

The abolition of the manorial lords took place in 1848. The local communities as autonomous corporations came into being in 1850. The cadastral communities Hof, Karla and Neusetz belonged to the municipality of Straden, while Radochen was part of the municipality of Halbenrain until 1968 . After the end of the First World War, there were disputes with the Ljubljana “National Government for Slovenia and Istria” about the area's territory. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the municipalities came to Reichsgau Steiermark, from 1945 to 1955 they were part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

The four cadastral municipalities of Hof, Karla, Neusetz and Radochen were merged in 1968 to form the municipality of Hof bei Straden. It belonged to the Straden administrative community .

The former municipal coat of arms was awarded in 1971 by the office of the Styrian state government.

"In a shield divided from white to green, two red rural clay jugs at the top, a golden corn cob with four unfolded silver wrapper leaves at the bottom."

  • In Hof bei Straden there is the fountain of the Johannisbrunnen medicinal water with a bottling building and two museums, the Johannisbrunnen medicinal water museum and a wedding museum with exhibits from 1750.
