The Hohe Egge near Ammensen in the Lower Saxony districts of Hildesheim , Holzminden and Northeim is 395 m above sea level. NHN the highest point of the Selter ridge in the Lower Saxon mountainous region .

The Hohe Egge is located a little southeast of the center of the elongated ridge of Selter. Its summit is located in the Holzminden district in the municipality of Delligsen - about 2.4 km (as the crow flies ) east-southeast of the Ammensen district on the upper reaches of the Rheinbach . North of the elevation is Freden (Leine) and southeast Erzhausen , each in the valley of the Leine , to the south is Naensen and southwest Stroit , which extends along the upper reaches of the Stroiter Bach . The northern flank of the elevation falls in the direction of Freden in the Hildesheim district. To the southeast, in the direction of Erzhausen, as well as to the south and southwest, in the direction of Naensen and Stroit, the flanks fall into the Northeim district. The Weddehagen farm is located in a valley cut on the southern flank of the elevation in the urban area of Einbeck .
Almost 400 m northeast of the summit of the Hohen Egge run the Selterklippen along the Selterkamm and about 1 km southeast of the Hohen Egge is the upper basin of the Erzhausen pumped storage plant at an altitude of 393.1 m .
Natural allocation
The Hohe Egge belongs in the Lower Saxon Bergland (D 36), in the natural spatial main unit group Weser-Leine-Bergland (No. 37; Leinebergland ), in the main unit Alfelder Bergland (377) and in the subunit Ith-Hils-Bergland (377.1) Natural area Thüster and Duinger Berg ( Reuberg , Steinberg , Selter ) (377.13). The landscape leads to the northeast into the natural area of Deinser Mulde (377.30), to the south into the natural area of Brunser plateaus (377.04) and to the west into the natural area of Delligser Senke (377.15).
Protected areas
Parts of the Selterklippen nature reserve are located on the northeastern highlands of the Hohen Egge ( CDDA no. 389974; designated in 2009; 96 hectares in size). Parts of the Selter landscape protection area extend to the northern and northeastern highlands (CDDA no. 329201; 2004; 7.831 km² ). Parts of the fauna-flora-habitat area of deciduous forests and cliff areas in the Selter, Hils and Greener forest (FFH no. 4024-332; 15.2199 km²) are also located on the elevation .
