In 1961, the construction of a dam was started, which was supposed to dam the rainwater and the surrounding field streams into a small lake. The lake reached its highest water level in 1965; since then the water has been diverted into the nearby Walnut Creek . Building land was parceled out around the lake and sold, after which the construction of houses began. In 1966, the Holiday Lake Owners' Association, Inc., a non-profit association of property owners, was established.
