Holliday Clark Grainger also known as Holly Grainger (born March 27, 1988 in Didsbury , Manchester , England ) is a British actress .

Life and accomplishments

Grainger attended Parrs Wood Technology College, where she graduated in 2006. She was also a student at the Madeley School Of Dance. In 2007 Grainger began studying at the University of Leeds and graduated with a degree in English literature.

Grainger began her acting career in 1994 with a guest role in four episodes of the series All Quiet on the Preston Front . In the following years she appeared in numerous British television series and films. She made her film debut in 2000 in the television comedy Daddy Fox . She had a guest role in two episodes of the Doctors series (2001 and 2005) and played a recurring role in Where the Heart Is (2003-2005). In 2007 she played the role of Charlotte in the television film The Handbook for Black Mothers, based on the bestseller by Kate Long, in which she plays a seventeen year old pregnant woman. In 2008 she was in the series Waking the Dead - On behalf of the dead and Merlin - The new adventures to see.

In recent years she has also increasingly appeared in front of the camera for cinema productions. Grainger played her first leading movie role in 2009 in Awaydays . In May 2010 Grainger was voted one of the "55 Faces of the Future" by Nylon magazine . In 2011 she starred alongside Mia Wasikowska in the film adaptation of the novel Jane Eyre . In 2012 she starred in another novel adaptation, the drama Bel Ami , alongside Uma Thurman and Robert Pattinson , with whom she was already in front of the camera for Das Handbuch für Rabenmütter . She also presented the film at the 2012 Berlinale Festival.

Grainger gained greater fame through the role of Lucrezia Borgia in the television series The Borgias - Sex. Power. Murder. Amen. which has been broadcast since 2011. For the role she was nominated for a Golden Nymph at the 2011 Monte Carlo TV Festival . In 2012 she played a supporting role in the remake of the novel Anna Karenina and the role of Estella in Great Expectations , another remake of a literary original. In 2017 she embodied Maria in the literary film adaptation of Tulip Fever .
