Holscha , Upper Sorbian Holešow ? / i , is a district of the municipality of Neschwitz in the Bautzen district in Saxony . The place is part of the Sorbian settlement area . Audio file / audio sample

geography

The place is located about 13 kilometers northwest of the large district town of Bautzen and less than a kilometer east of the community center of the community of Neschwitz in the Upper Lusatian region . Surrounding towns are Neudorf in the north, Holschdubrau in the east, the district of Quoos in the south- east, which belongs to the municipality of Radibor , Krinitz in the south, Uebigau in the south-west and Neschwitz in the west.

The federal road 96 runs through Holscha from Bautzen to Hoyerswerda and the district road 7283 to Radibor. To the south of the local area are the Holschaer Teich and Wiesenteich, both of which belong to the Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape Biosphere Reserve . Furthermore, the Czornegraben flows through the place.

history

Holscha was first mentioned in a document as Hollusschaw in 1400 . In the period that followed, the place name changed frequently. In 1419 the place was recorded as Goleschaw . In 1487 the place name was Holyscho and the following year Holischow . Then the place name changed from Holsche (1497) to Hollschaw (1548) and Holitschaw (1566) to Holscha in 1658. In 1768 the place was recorded as Hollscha . Since 1475 was Holscha seat of a manor that the basic rule held.

Until April 1, 1936, Holscha and the district of Holschdubrau formed an independent municipality, then the municipality was incorporated into Neschwitz . As part of the municipality, Holscha was from July 25, 1952 in the then newly formed district of Bautzen . After the fall of the Wall , Holscha was assigned to the old district of Bautzen on August 1, 1994 ; since the district reform in Saxony on August 1, 2008 , the village has belonged to the Bautzen district .

In 1777, three gardeners and thirteen cottagers were registered as residents for Holscha . In 1834 the place had 117 inhabitants, this number of inhabitants fell to 106 inhabitants by 1890. By 1910 the population rose again to 219 inhabitants. In 1925 Holscha had 225 inhabitants, 220 of whom were Evangelical-Lutheran and 5 were Catholic .

For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 208 inhabitants in the 1880s; 194 of them were Sorbs (93%) and 14 Germans.

In 2011, the inhabitants of Holscha had an average age of 44.1 years, which is below the Saxon average of 46.4 years.
