Homosexuality in Bhutan is largely taboo in society, but has not been illegal since 2019.

Homosexual acts were legalized in Bhutan on June 7, 2019 by the Gyelyong Tshogdu (the country's national assembly). The National Assembly voted for the abolition of the two criminal law paragraphs 213 and 214, according to which prison sentences of one month to one year were provided for "unnatural" and same-sex sex, following a proposal by Finance Minister Namgay Tshering . Tshering justified his proposal in the newspaper The Bhutanese, among others, with the criticism that international human rights organizations had expressed about the law.
