In Jordan , homosexuality is legally legal, but is socially taboo in public.

Homosexuality was legalized in 1951 through the reform of the Jordanian Penal Code. The age of consent is 16 years.

Anti-discrimination laws

There are no anti-discrimination laws to protect sexual orientation in Jordan .

Recognition of same-sex couples

In Jordan neither a same-sex marriage nor a registered partnership permitted by law. The state has not yet officially recognized same-sex couples.

Social situation

A homosexual community has so far not been able to form in Jordan due to social pressure and is only available in the private sphere in the capital Amman . There is no LGBT civil rights organization in Jordan. There is an online LGBT magazine for Jordan and various LGBT blogs on Jordan.
