Homosexuality in Pakistan is taboo in parts of society and homosexual acts are punished with prison terms.

Homosexual acts are illegal in Pakistan under the Pakistani Penal Code and are punishable by prison terms ranging from two years to a maximum of life.

There is no anti-discrimination law protecting sexual orientation in Pakistan.

Recognition of same-sex couples

State recognition of same-sex couples does not exist in the form of same-sex marriage or in a registered partnership .

Social situation

Due to the illegality, there are no LGBT communities in Pakistan. Homosexual people are pushed into the social underground.
