The Honda CB 50 J is a mokick from the Japanese manufacturer Honda .
In the colors blue, green and orange, it was offered in Germany from 1976 at a retail price of DM 1,699. Mobile models are available from 600 € today, well-preserved models from 1,200 €.

The CB 50 J was intended to be the successor to the aging SS50 model . It has a single-cylinder four-stroke engine with pressure circulation lubrication and a light metal cylinder with a cylinder liner that is tilted forward by 20 degrees. The chain-driven overhead camshaft actuates the two hanging valves in the cylinder head via rocker arms . In Germany they came as called. Mokick version 2 HP (1.4 kW) at 5,000 min -1 , 4 courses and a maximum authorized speed of 40 km / h on the market. In other countries, they had 6 or 6.3 hp at 10,500 min -1 and a five-speed gearbox.
It was reduced in power, among other things, by a thinner inner pipe in the manifold, a smaller 13 mm carburettor and a negative ignition adjustment in the pole wheel, which shifted the ignition point in the direction of "late" instead of "early" from 6000 revs. By fixing the centrifugal force weights on the ignition timing, this limitation can be prevented and the engine then reaches higher speeds. This manipulation or changes to the manifold or carburetor invalidates the operating license .

Compared to other mokicks, the Honda scored points in its year of publication with the four-stroke engine, a mechanical disc brake at the front, a tachometer and the passenger footrests, which are not attached to the swing arm. Weak points compared to other mokicks were breaking rear shock absorbers, which were related to the construction of the luggage rack, a rather quickly rusting exhaust and a leaky ignition coil, which led to fault currents in the rain. The motor is considered to be very robust simply because of the speed throttle.

The first CB 50 from 1967 had a horizontal cylinder as the Honda SS 50, 3.9 kW (5.3 hp) at 11,000 min -1 and reached top speeds of over 80 h km /.
