Honda XR 650 R.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The XR650R is an all -terrain motorcycle from the Japanese vehicle manufacturer Honda .

The successor to the Honda XR 600 has a 649 cm³ four-valve single-cylinder engine. The biggest changes to the previous models are the completely redeveloped, liquid-cooled engine and the aluminum chassis. Compared to the XR650L (weight: approx. 150 kg) the R version does not have an electric starter or a starter battery . These and other changes made it possible to reduce its weight to around 135 kg, which, in conjunction with the very high-torque motor, makes it a good hobby enduro without strong competitive ambitions. The XR 650 R is also often converted into a supermoto because it is reliable and requires little maintenance.

In the years 2000 to 2004 it was officially sold by Honda Germany, even if only without street legal approval. However, it is still available from many gray importers. Most of these offer the XR 650 R ready for approval.

The XR650R was originally built for the Baja California race, which it also won a number of times. It is delivered throttled, ie a small carburetor nozzle, throttle exhaust and closed air filter box. Two-person admission is difficult to get.

To increase engine performance, Honda offers the HRC tuning kit. It includes a high compression cylinder, a camshaft with 15 ° steeper cams, a more powerful camshaft drive, an open racing exhaust, stronger clutch springs, larger nozzles and a carburetor slide with a larger opening.
