Hoofdklasse (chess) 1981/82
In the Hoofdklasse 1981/82 the 59th Dutch team championship in chess was played.
The defending champions Desisco / Watergraafsmeer , Volmac Rotterdam and CVI / Utrecht fought a three-way battle for the title. Utrecht achieved the best number of board points and defeated all teams that ended up in places 4 to 10, but defeats against their direct competitors deprived them of the title chance. Before the last round, Rotterdam and Desisco / WGM were tied in terms of team points, and Desisco / WGM saw the board points just ahead. However, as Rotterdam won in the last round, while Desisco / WGM did not get beyond a draw against local rivals Vereenigd Amsterdamsch Schaakgenootschap / Amsterdamsch Schaakclub , Volmac Rotterdam became Dutch team champion. Discendo Discimus Den Haag and HWP Zaanstad had moved up from class 1 . While The Hague achieved relegation, Zaanstad and MEMO had to relegate.

The competitions were held on September 19, October 10, November 7, December 12, 1981, January 9, February 6, March 6, April 3 and May 8, 1982.
