Horlitza ( Lower Sorbian Horlica ) is an officially designated living space and a former district of Reuthen , in the municipality of Felixsee in Spree-Neisse district in Brandenburg .

Horlitza is located in Lower Lusatia, right on the border with Saxony . The city of Spremberg is about twelve and the city of Weißwasser about thirteen kilometers away. Surrounding villages are Bohsdorf in the north, Friedrichshain in the northeast, the district of Wolfshain , which belongs to the municipality of Tschernitz, in the east, Groß Düben , which is already in Saxony, in the southeast, the districts of Lieskau in the southwest and Schönheide in the west and Reuthen in the northwest.

Horlitza is located on the federal highway 156 from Spremberg to Weißwasser. There are several ponds to the east of the village .

history

Horlitza was first mentioned in 1540 as "Horlitz". The place name comes from the Sorbian language and means roughly "place where eagles are". For the year 1844 there was a manor in Horlitza , at that time Horlitza had 46 inhabitants in eight buildings. Since the middle of the 19th century, lignite and later alum clay were mined at Horlitza .

After the agreements of the Congress of Vienna , the former Saxon Horlitza came to the Kingdom of Prussia as part of Niederlausitz . There the place was in the district of Spremberg in the administrative district of Frankfurt . On January 1, 1938, Horlitza was incorporated into Reuthen .

On July 25, 1952, Horlitza was assigned to the newly formed Spremberg district in the Cottbus district, was in the Spremberg district in Brandenburg after the reunification and was part of the Döbern-Land office from July 31, 1992 . After the Brandenburg district reform on December 6, 1993, Horlitza finally joined the newly formed Spree-Neisse district . On October 26, 2003, Horlitza was downgraded to a part of this municipality in the course of the incorporation of Reuthens into Felixsee and subsequently to a residential area.
