Housecore Records is a record label from the USA founded by Phil Anselmo in 2001 , which mainly has metal bands from the sub-styles of Extreme - and Doom Metal as well as projects from the hardcore punk genre under contract. history

Anselmo founded his own label in 2001. The name Housecore Records refers to Anselmo's house, where many local friends met, made music and recorded music together. The label's logo, a black and white drawing of a house, is based on Anselmo's first tattoo . Anselmo named the idea of ​​relocating unpublished recordings and material from his side projects as the origin.

Anselmo got through Elektra Records , to which he was bound as the singer of Pantera , a cooperation with Baphomet Records , the label of Frank “Killjoy” Pucci from Necrophagia . The cooperation as "Baphomet / Housecore Records" secured the label a distribution contract with Relapse Records in 2001 . Thanks to the newly granted freedom of movement, Anselmo was able to relocate all of his own projects beyond Pantera via his own label and sell them through the cooperation with Relapse. After only three releases, Anselmo and Pucci split again and Anselmo returned to the original name Housecore Records. Since then, Housecore has published bands and projects in which Anselmo is involved, or which he produces or otherwise promotes.

Studio: Nodferatu's Lair

With Nodferatu's Lair , Anselmo also maintains a studio in which most of the recordings of the contract bands take place. The studio, as well as the sales department, is located on a property in a swamp and wooded area near Covington . The site also includes Anselmo's own house, a guest house in which Mike Williams from EyeHateGod lives with his wife. In addition to the label's bands, artists such as Crowbar , Down and Corrections House recorded albums in the studio .

Festival: Housecore Horror Film Fest

Since 2013, Anselmo and Corey Mitchell have been holding a music and film festival in Austin , Texas under the name of the label as Housecore Horror Film Fest . At the festival on the Emo's complex in the east of Austin, in addition to the label's bands, other internationally renowned bands such as Danzig , Neurosis , Gwar or Samhain perform . In addition, both current and already popular horror films will be shown, about which there will also be open discussions with filmmakers such as José Mojica Marins , Jörg Buttgereit and Jim Van Bebber .
