hr3 Clubnight

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hr3 Clubnight (later just Clubnight ) was a DJ show that was realized and launched in 1990 by Markus Hertle for the Hessian radio station hr3 . The hr broadcaster You FM canceled Clubnight in June 2014 after 24 years.

Soon after it was founded, Clubnight was regarded as a platform for the growing Frankfurt club scene . The program was usually transmitted with economical moderation without advertising and news. Depending on the DJ, a wide range of club-compatible music styles such as hip-hop , rap , techno , trance and trip-hop were played in the show.

In addition to a few regional newcomers, for example Tom Novy and Boris Dlugosch , internationally known DJs such as Paul van Dyk , Carl Cox or Dave Clarke have played at Clubnight over the years.

Regularly were Techno - Events (. Eg Sound of Frankfurt or down 1,993 from Hessentag ) broadcast live. The program was also broadcast from clubs such as the Aufschwung Ost / Stammheim , Dorian Gray or Omen .

history

The spiritual father of the show is Jörg Albrecht. The program was produced alternately by the Hessian broadcast editors Jörg Seebold (until 1998), Martin Fuhrmann (until 2006) and Raoul Hecker (until 2010), usually together at outdoor events. From 2001 to 2007, Oliver Heil was the first editor with a full-time position to be responsible for the show, after which Frank Eckert (DJ Franksen) took over.

The hr3 Clubnight took place for the first time on May 5, 1990 with Torsten Fenslau . From 1990 to 2001, the program could be heard on hr3 every Saturday from 9 p.m. to midnight. Resident DJs of the first years were Torsten Fenslau, Sven Väth , Lady D., Chilly T. and Heinz Felber , later Mark Spoon , DJ Dag , Talla 2XLC and Ulli Brenner joined them.

From 1998 the program was broadcast simultaneously on the radio stations hr XXL and hr3, from May 2001 only on hr XXL. In addition, from 2002 onwards there were no more interruptions due to traffic reports in the hr XXL broadcasts, a novelty in public broadcasting at the time. On the Easter weekend an HR XXL Easter March was held, which had a similar format to the Clubnight. On January 1st, 2004, hr XXL was renamed YOU FM - Young Fresh Music in the course of an image change . The resident DJs were now - until his death - Mark Spoon , DJ Dag , until 2003 Talla 2XLC as well as Tom Wax , Pascal FEOS and Chris Liebing .

From May 2001 to October 2007 the Clubnight was also broadcast on Saturday night on hr television . Heinz Felber and Lady D. and other DJs were subsequently active on the original broadcast slot on hr3 with the program hr3 Party Grooves, which took place for the last time on September 29, 2007 with DJ Joerck.

At YOU FM, the duration of a Clubnight program has been shortened from three to two hours. However, the YOU FM Clubnight began at 8 p.m. at the end of 2006 with a two-hour warm-up by Clubnight host DJ Franksen , which included DJ interviews, tips for going out and recordings. At 10 p.m., the so-called peak time followed with the respective guest DJ, which also lasted two hours. Together with the “Rewind” (repetition of the program) from the previous week and the Clubnight Tracks program , around 9 hours of electronic music were broadcast on Saturdays. In recent years, Clubnight has focused more on newcomers, but despite the change of station and the change of a generation, DJs such as Gayle San , Chris Liebing , DJ Karotte , Toni Rios , Frank Lorber , Ian Pooley or Tom Wax were still occasionally represented .

At the beginning of June 2014, the last Clubnight presenter "Franksen" announced the end of the program with the Hessentags edition from Bensheim. The HR justified the cancellation with a lack of demand from guest DJs, and the concept had outlived itself.

A petition launched on June 9, 2014 to receive the Clubnight failed a month later because of the quorum that was set by the party.

records

The Hessischer Rundfunk recorded the club nights on audio cassettes for the first few years. Minidiscs followed from around 1996 , sometimes in mono mode. DAT cassettes have been regularly written to since 1998 . In 2001, the parallel recording took place in the D'Accord broadcasting system, an MP2 format, from which the rewind of the following week was drawn, but which was then automatically deleted again.

Clubnight was the first DJ show to publish the sequence of tracks played shortly after the show. This "playlist" was originally created by the Hessischer Rundfunk for accounting purposes with the collecting societies GEMA and GVL . These meticulously kept, meticulous lists have been circulating on the Internet ever since.
