Hubert Liebherr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hubert Liebherr (born September 25, 1950 in Memmingen ) is a German entrepreneur and engineer and co-owner of the Liebherr family company until 1988 .

Life

From 1950 to 1956 the family lived in Kirchdorf an der Iller , where their father Hans Liebherr ran a small construction company. In 1956 the family moved to Biberach an der Riss . The five children grew up in a Christian home. As a high school student, he only experienced the “wild 68ers” on the fringes. From today's perspective, Liebherr regards this period of student awakening as the darkest in his life . He graduated from high school and began studying at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . After serving in the army , he studied civil engineering and surveying at the University of Karlsruhe . In 1980 he went to Algeria as a graduate engineer for four years . His father's company built a construction machinery plant there.

Turning points

In 1981 he returned to Germany. The competencies were redistributed among the siblings. Hubert Liebherr was responsible for vehicle , oil rig , harbor and container cranes, machine tools and aircraft equipment. In 1983 he married.

A car accident in 1981 with a total loss of both vehicles, but without personal injury, marked a turning point in his life. He then put his faith at the center of his life. In 1987 the trained pilot flew with his twin-engine aircraft and his friend Albrecht von Brandenstein-Zeppelin to the Portuguese pilgrimage site of Fátima .

In 1988, Hubert Liebherr decided by amicable agreement with the rest of the family to return the company share (approx. 100 million euros) and waive the inheritance . At that time the company had 18,000 employees and was active worldwide with 56 companies.

Since 1990 he has represented Radio Maria in the now defunct United Apostolate in the Spirit of Mary, where he cooperated with Marian groups such as the Servants of Jesus and Mary , the Engelwerk , the Catholic Scouting Society of Europe and the Marian priestly movement .

present

Hubert Liebherr holds since then talks about his life and is co-founder of Action churches for the East eV, a 1994 founded association that has set itself the task, wooden churches in the former Soviet Union , in fraternal agreement with the Russian Orthodox Church to build .

He is the first chairman of the Medjugorje Germany Association in Pfaffenhofen an der Roth , which supports the alleged seers from Međugorje in Herzegovina .
