Hugo Grimm (painter)

Hugo Grimm (born February 21, 1866 in Feldkirch ; † October 8, 1944 in Kitzbühel ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

Hugo Grimm, who worked as a post office clerk from 1894, received his only artistic training from 1891 to 1894 with Alfons Silber in Hall , otherwise he was self-taught . In 1911 he quit his post at the post office and from then on lived exclusively from art. Following the Romantics, Hugo Grimm created mysterious and fairytale landscapes . After the so-called annexation of Austria to Nazi Germany in 1938, which Grimm welcomed emphatically, he exhibited from 1940 to 1943 at the Innsbruck "Gau art exhibitions Tirol-Vorarlberg".

Hugo Grimm died in Kitzbühel at the age of 78.
