Hustedt is a district of the city of Celle in Lower Saxony , north of the city center.

history

Hustedt was first mentioned in a document in 1438 and belonged to the parish of Groß Hehlen . The local, former village school was built in 1799 and today serves as a village community center . In Hustedt Waldkater one was 1935-1945 airfield of a fighter wing of the armed forces . The Allies referred to the field as Airfield B.150 , the Royal Air Force used it after its conquest in the spring of 1945 even in the last weeks of the war, among other things as part of the sinking of the Cap Arcona . The barracks served as a prisoner of war camp for several years after the Second World War and are now part of a housing estate.

On January 1, 1973, Hustedt was incorporated into Celle.

During the forest fire disaster in 1975 , houses and forest areas were destroyed in Hustedt.

Hustedt has a joint local council with the districts of Groß Hehlen and Scheuen with 9 members (4 CDU , 3 SPD , 1 GREEN , 1 independent ).

The local mayor is Axel Fuchs (CDU).
