IC 4864 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Octant in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 265 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter .

The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on September 22, 1900 .
