The Super Globe is the world championship for men's club teams in handball . The competition is also known as the Club World Championship .

It has been organized by the International Handball Federation since 1997, initially every five years . In 2007, it was decided to hold the trophy every three years. The tournament has been held annually since 2010 and has always been held in Doha since then . The reigning cup winners of the IHF continental associations and the team of the host club, from Europe also the second in the Champions League, are currently eligible . However, no OCHF representative ( Oceania ) took part in the 2007 competition.

BM Atletico Madrid celebrates his 2012 win

However, this competition was not given much attention by the European clubs. Often B or youth teams were sent to the Super Globe. That reduced the sporting importance of the competition. After the prize money was increased, the competition also became interesting for top European teams. The 2014 and 2015 winners received 400,000 euros in prize money, the second-placed 250,000 and the third-placed 150,000.

Furthermore, the teams from the other continents are strengthened with top players from the European leagues. For example, Amine Bannour was loaned to the Saudi Arabian Mudhar Club at the Super Globe in 2012, to the Tunisian club Étoile Sportive du Sahel in 2013 and to the Qatari club Al Sadd Sports Club in 2014 . In addition to Bannour, Håvard Tvedten , Guillaume Joli and Dragan Gajič also played for the Al-Sadd Sports Club in different years.
