Santa Maria da Visitação, nave and choir

The simple, single-nave hall church made of granite is oriented almost west-east and has a rectangular floor plan. In the east there is a narrower, short rectangular choir , which is separated from the nave by a triumphal arch . The square sacristy to the north is accessible from the choir . The nave is divided into six bays by five round arches . The arches rest on round pillars with square, profiled capitals . Buttresses on the outside of the church also absorb the pressure of the vaults . The round arches support the tile-roofed gable roof , which is open towards the church and extends over the nave and choir with a constant ridge height . The rectangular west portal is flanked by two pilaster strips and finished with a straight arch at the top. A simple frieze separates the portal from an overlying quatrefoil . A niche is embedded in the gable , which is flanked by two pilaster strips that support a small round arch. Pilaster strips with capitals emphasize the corners of the nave. Its effect is further enhanced by the pyramid-shaped attachments closed with balls.

Another portal is in the middle of the south facade. The interior is illuminated by a total of 7 short rectangular windows, 3 in the south facade of the nave, two in the north side and 2 more in the south wall of the choir.

The two-story church tower from the 18th century rises on the north side of the church, slightly behind the flight of the west portal . A rectangular door in the west gives access to the tower; the bell chamber on the upper floor is opened through long rectangular windows with round arches. The corners of the tower are also emphasized by pilaster strips. Of the interior, the Romanesque granite baptismal font deserves a special mention. The basin, decorated with stylized flowers, rests on a cylindrical base and must have belonged to the original furnishings of the church.
