Imogen Simmonds (born March 8, 1993 in Hong Kong ) is a British - Swiss triathlete and reigning European champion on the Ironman distance (2019).

Career

Imogen Simmonds is a dual British-Swiss citizen. She grew up in Hong Kong for the first nine years and competed in her first triathlon when she was ten.

She started in triathlon for the United Kingdom until 2015 . In 2014, she was third in Canada at the Triathlon World Championship on the sprint distance in the 20-24 age group.

She is trained by Jürgen Zäck . In 2016, Simmonds became World Champion Ironman 70.3 in the age group 18-24 in the triathlon middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) . She has been a professional athlete since 2017 and in November 2018 she won the Ironman 70.3 Xiamen in China

In the 2019 season she was placed in the Swiss Triathlon long distance squad . In June 2019 she was second behind the American Skye Moench at Ironman Germany and thus also winner of the Ironman European Championships . Imogen Simmonds qualified for a place at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships), where she finished twelfth in October. In September she finished third at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice . In November she won the Laguna Phuket Triathlon in Thailand on the short distance .

In February 2020, the 26-year-old was able to win the Ironman 70.3 Dubai with a new course record, thus winning an Ironman 70.3 race for the fourth time.

Imo Simmonds lives in Geneva .
