action

After a drug raid in the youth center, Detective Inspector Judith Mohn discovers the daughter of a family friend, dead in the trunk of the refugee dealer Marc Declercg. With a heavy heart she has to convey the sad news to the Mertens and the fourteen year old Sarah is particularly affected by the death of her sister Jette. The girls had a very close relationship with each other and Mohn hopes that Sarah will provide information about the course of events and the perpetrator, because it cannot have been Declercg, as he has an unequivocal alibi and at the time of the crime he robbed a gas station, which is evidenced by surveillance tapes. Jette's friend Tom is suspected of having committed a crime, because he is also a drug dealer and immediately evades police questioning by fleeing. However, his supervisor can persuade him to face the police. As long as Tom cannot prove his innocence, he will be kept in custody.

Nevertheless, Judith Mohn and her team continue to investigate in all directions. The analysis of Jette's laptop shows that someone must have tampered with her webcam and unwanted recordings could be made of her. There is also a chat history in which Jette received some hate mail from a “Joker”. It looks like this "Joker" after Jette is now also targeting her sister, because Sarah is hit by a car late in the evening after a young man had obviously followed her from the youth center. Sarah and Jette were very often in the youth center run by their uncle, Ben Mertens, and they seemed to be in safe hands there.

While Judith Mohn is looking for "Joker", she comes across a very intimate chat contact with a "Leo" in Sarah's cell phone. When she asks Sarah about it, she says that he would be the only one who would understand her and would always have time for her. Mohn thinks it is possible that “Joker” and “Leo” could be one and the same person. While she concentrates desperately on the boy who had chased Sarah before her accident, she does not notice how the girl is again in danger.

Sarah accidentally discovers that "Leo" is none other than her uncle Ben. Horrified, she flees from him when he too notices that he has been exposed. But Ben Mertens overwhelms and kidnaps her in the minibus of the youth center. He races through the area with her headless, but since the minibus is quite conspicuous, it can be located quickly. Mohn had also discovered that Mertens was the key figure. She now learns that he had gotten out of hand after Jette discovered her sister's intimate photos on his computer. Her head hit so hard during an argument that she died instantly.

In her private life, Judith Mohn also has to accept a stroke of fate, because her husband Niklas is leaving for her wedding day.

criticism

Volker Bergmeister from tittelbach.tv rated this episode positively and said: The series has the “premise that the scripts are based on real cases.” Accordingly, “The crime thriller [...] is not only conceived in a classic way, but also staged. [...] The actors are consistently good, the dialogues are more standard, sometimes annoying. The overloaded, well-staged crime thriller is dramaturgically extremely conventional, in line with the popular ZDF motto: no experiments! "

In Quotenmeter.de presented Martin Seng states: "In truth - Jette is dead 'is undoubtedly an ambitious case of verhebt but more than once to his own subjects. A lot of the dialogues are too implausible and the character drawing is often more on the side of clichés than that of seriousness. The Commissioner's second case, unfortunately, falls victim to its own ambitions. Less would have been more here. "

The editorial team of TV Spielfilm rated the crime thriller as mediocre (“thumbs straight”) and said that the film cannot do justice to “the many serious problems” and only addresses too many topics “superficially and half-baked” and therefore does not resolve it satisfactorily. "But we've seen that better."
